Weeks four and five Term one

Today we celebrated Purple Cake Day to remember all the people who died in the Haiti and Christchurch earthquakes.

Zoe gave everybody a purple cup cake. " Yummy" said Paris and Mia.

We all got together and painted purple flags of hope for the people of Haiti and Christchurch.

Tryathalon practise

We have been practising for our tryathalon this week. Layla goes zooming by on her bike.

Eva and Cameron are whizzing around the track on their bike and scooter.

Experiments with plants and water

We put some celery in coloured water and watched how the red water went right up through the stem to the leaves.

Nicola watered the plant only on the leaves.

Sam watered the plant on the roots.

The plant that was watered on the roots (left) looks the healthiest.

Experiments with plants

Wow look how much our beans have grown! Lots of roots are coming down and shoots and leaves reaching up.

Visit from Mr. Owen

A man called "Mr. Owen" came to tell us about what Hira School was like when he used to come here a long, long time ago.
